Crystal elixirs are a great way to utilize healing crystal energy. I always recommend the indirect method of making an elixir as several types of crystals are TOXIC. The only crystals that are widely considered non-toxic are the following from the quartz family. For example, the migraine pouch in my shop features all non-toxic crystals used in an elixir.
Amethyst
Blue Quartz
Citrine
Clear quartz
Green aventurine
Rose Quartz
Smoky Quartz
The above crystals can be used with the direct method. Otherwise, it is best to err on the side of caution and utilize the indirect method, ESPECIALLY, when drinking the elixir.
The difference between the two is that the cleansed crystals soak directly in the water with the direct method. In the indirect method, the crystals do not directly touch the water.
Crystal Elixir – Indirect Method –
1. Cleanse your selected crystal or crystals. I recommend using spring water or filtered water. If you are a green household, potable rain or well water are exceptionally energizing and cleansing
2. Place your crystals in a small glass vessel. Make sure the vessel is tall enough to stay above the water line once you add the water
3. Place this small glass vessel in a larger glass bowl. Make sure the crystals DO NOT come in contact with the water.
4. Cover the larger bowl, with the glass vessel inside, with a thin tea towel, cling wrap, or clear glass or plastic lid, to ensure the water remains clean and safe for consumption.
5. Leave the vessel out in the sun to receive and energizing, vibrant solar energy throughout the day, or out in the moon to receive a soothing, gentle lunar energy during the night.
6. Pour the water into a large glass bottle. Keep going until it is two thirds full, then add one third apple cider vinegar, distilled vinegar, vodka, or brandy. This step is essential if you want to have this elixir to drink for longer than a week. Drinking stagnant water is a no-no!
7. Label your bottle with the date & the crystals that you used.
Now you have some options! You can add 4-5 drops of that water to your water flask, or what I prefer, adding 4-5 drops to a blend of essential oils and using it as an air freshener (be careful around babies and pets with essential oils!) You can also use it as a body scent (make sure you are not allergic to the oils you use, and remember some essential oils are photosensitive. Finally, you can add 6-10 drops to your bathwater, with or without essential oils.
